NovaRDP Windows Server services are provided on a Bring Your Own License (BYOL) basis. A Microsoft Windows Server license is not included with your VPS.
You are responsible for ensuring that your license is valid and permits use on third-party hosted infrastructure.
Before You Begin
You will need:
- A valid Windows Server product key for the edition installed on your VPS.
- Administrator access to your VPS.
- An active internet connection.
Your product key must match the installed Windows Server edition, such as Windows Server Standard or Windows Server Datacenter.
Method 1: Activate Using Command Prompt
Step 1: Open Command Prompt
Open the Start menu, search for Command Prompt, right-click it, and select Run as administrator.
Step 2: Install Your Product Key
Run the following command:
slmgr /ipk XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX
Replace XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX with your own valid Windows Server product key.
Step 3: Activate Windows
Run:
slmgr /ato
Windows will contact Microsoft's activation servers and attempt to activate your installation.
Step 4: Check Activation Status
Run:
slmgr /xpr
This displays the current Windows activation status.
For more detailed licensing information, run:
slmgr /dlv
Method 2: Activate Through Windows Settings
- Open Settings.
- Go to System → Activation.
- Select Change product key.
- Enter your valid Windows Server product key.
- Follow the on-screen activation instructions.
The exact location of the Activation page may vary slightly depending on your Windows Server version.
If Your Product Key Does Not Work
First, confirm that your product key matches the Windows Server version and edition installed on your VPS.
To check the currently installed edition, run:
DISM /online /Get-CurrentEdition
You can also check your Windows Server version using:
winver
If Microsoft rejects the product key or activation fails because of a licensing restriction, contact Microsoft or the licensing provider from whom you obtained the license.
NovaRDP cannot verify, replace, generate, or provide Microsoft product keys as part of its BYOL service.
KMS or Organization-Provided Licensing
If your company or organization provides Windows licensing through its own authorized KMS or other volume-licensing system, follow the activation instructions provided by your organization's administrator.
Do not use unauthorized or publicly available third-party KMS activation servers.
Important Licensing Information
Successful activation does not by itself establish that a license is valid for a particular deployment.
Customers are responsible for ensuring that their Microsoft license permits Windows Server to be used on NovaRDP's hosted infrastructure and for maintaining all required Microsoft licensing rights throughout their use of the service.
For additional information, please refer to the NovaRDP Terms of Service and Microsoft's applicable licensing terms.
